If you still plan to listen after the silliness that was 'Bathtime In Clerkenwell', thank you. For all its bizarre soundeffects, it still stands as a glorious piece of 30s influenced pop.
If you're in two minds, let me reassure you that next week will start to see some Christmas songs making an appearance. Not too many at first but the numbers will grow until the all out onslaught of Christmas spirit on Christmas Eve.
And because it's Christmas, I'm pleased to say that there will be a one off Pop In The Real World special on Boxing Day - time to be confirmed. It won't be a typical show, but a 70s special. The 70s are still a maligned decade but they seem to resonate more than ever now. Musically, so much of what we hear today has its roots in the music of 50 years ago. (50 years? That's ridiculous.) I'm having trouble whittling down the choices but expect anything and everything from glam, disco, singer songwriters, radio pop, art pop, punk, new wave and anything else I can squeeze. I'm looking forward to featuring acts that don't fit easily into the usual template. And, of course, if you feel there's a song that represents the decade best let me know and I'll see what I can do!
The songs that featured in last Sunday's show were:
Young Folks - Peter, Bjorn and John
